Arran   26th - 28th May  (Bank Holiday)

Detail: The fantastic Arran Granite provides some of the finest scenery and mountaineering in the UK. The Rosa Pinnacle dominates the head of Glen Rosa and sports one of the finest mountaineering routes in the UK (South Ridge Direct), which every UK mountaineer should do at least once in their lifetime! There are also many other excellent rock climbing objectives and the Cir Mhor traverse (Mod) is one of the finest ridge traverses outside of the Cuillin. The signs of previous glaciations are clear to see on many of the mountains and have left behind a fine landscape of glaciated slabs and pyramidal peaks that make for excellent fell walking too. Arran provides a fantastic mixture of landscapes that is like a blend of Skye, The Lake District and some of the Dark Peak too!

Location: The convenient (although very basic) Glen Rosa campsite is ideally situated for easy access to the excellent mountaineering and rock climbing objectives in Glen Rosa and so this will be the base for the meet. A large mess tent should ensure a sociable atmosphere. Those with a more flexible budget can book themselves into the Brodick bunkhouse with a more luxurious price tag to match! (http://www.brodickbunkhouse.co.uk/)

Cost: £4 pppn for the campsite. £25 pppn for the bunkhouse.

Getting there:
The campsite is situated 3km from the ferry terminal at Brodick, which makes a pleasant walk although reduced ferry prices have now made taking vehicles onto the island relatively cheap (£30 return for the vehicle).  For more details go to; https://www.calmac.co.uk/ardrossan-brodick-arran-ferry-summer-timetable
