AC honorary member Alf Gregory died aged 96. 'Greg', as he was known, was the official stills photographer on the successful 1953 Everest expedition and the man behind so many those iconic images of Hillary, Tenzing and company. Born in Blackburn on 12 February 1913, he was elected to the AC in 1952 and became an honorary member in 2004. He died on 9 February in Emerald, Victoria, Australia, where he lived.
