In the early days of the Alpine Club it was a regular custom to hold mixed exhibitions of members’ and friends’ work, often around Christmas. So, as a change from one-man shows, it seemed like a good idea to return to this long-held tradition.

JOE ARNOLD is a well-known figure in American painting and climbing circles, particularly in the Tetons. His paintings, often large oils, are to be found in many major galleries, corporations and important private collections worldwide.

JIM CURRAN, well-known to all of us, will leave a few examples from his earlier exhibition.

JOHN FAIRLEY continues the tradition of members who keep an artistic record of their life-long mountain activities in wide-spread and varied ranges.

JOHN INNERDALE worked as an architect and has kept detailed illustrated journals of his varied and active mountain journeys. A past Chairman of The Mountain Heritage Trust, he is now heavily involved in the running of The Kendal Mountain Film Festival.

BILL NORTON is a member of that seminal group of Alpine Club figures who form the Norton/Wills/Pasteur axis-6 generations of active and important mountaineers, several of whom were and are talented painters.

JULIA SCOTT has ample chances to follow her artistic inclinations whether on independent mountain excursions or with her husband Martin, our current V.P.
