From childhood, Tim Pollard has loved climbing. Initially venturing to local Yorkshire outcrops then progressing to the Lake District and eventually to Europe his passion for mountains has continued to grow. An early introduction to Alpine mountains and the other-worldly glaciers and icy peaks of the Bernese Oberland on a family holiday with his parents fed the interest and sowed the seeds of a lifelong love of mountain environments. For the rest of his life mountaineering and being in the mountain environment have been a part of his life Tim’s interest in landscape painting led him to specialise in landscape painting whilst completing his art degree at St Martin’s College, Lancaster. Since leaving college Tim has taught art and outdoor activities and now works in a special school in the Yorkshire Dales where he enjoys passing on his skills to new generations of artists.
Eventually the two passions came together and for a number of years now Tim has been keenly painting mountain landscapes taking inspiration from sketches and photographs. He has been influenced by the guidebook sketches of Heaton Cooper and the paintings of Chamonix artist Marcel Wibault.
Tim has climbed extensively in the European Alps, ski mountaineering, mountaineering and ice climbing.
