26th June-10th July 2010 - Early Season Alpine Meet, Cogne
Why not come to Val D’Aosta in the Italian Alps to sample the splendid
climbing in the mountains of Cogne? Popular in the 19^th century and
with modern-day ice-climbers, this area has been almost forgotten by
British alpinists but is an excellent early season venue. There are many
peaks in the range 3500-4000m with routes of all types and grades,
mostly accessed from small bivouac huts. Obvious targets include La
Grivola, Herbetet and the Gran Paradiso from an unusual (and much
superior) side. Based at Camping Lo Stambecco in Valnontey. Details and
further information from Martin Gillie, 0131 4401528.Meet Report

7th August - YRC trip to Bolivia’s Quimsa Cruz –three or four weeks
We have received an invitation to join a Yorkshire Ramblers Club meet in the Quimsa Cruz.
"
The Quimsa Cruz provides a microcosm of the Andes mountains; summits cloaked in perpetual snows, sweeping glaciers, granite peaks, multi-coloured lakes, deep gorges, woodlands, old tin mines, an variety of birds and plants and the mystical (thin) atmosphere of the rugged Andes - unforgettable. The range is the one remaining significant mountain group in Bolivia not yet visited by the YRC in the last 30 years.
The YRC intends about 10 days tourism/acclimatisation trek in to the area before a week or two in an area with considerable new route potential. Google Imperial Quimsa Cruz Report for an impression of the intended climbing area.
Anyone who didn't manage last year's AC Andean meet would be welcome to join the party. Expressions of firm interest by the mid November to Michael Smith ( 07814010165 or email) would be appreciated though later joining may be practicable.
