Shap Wells Hotel, Cumbria. November 29th, 2003
ABOUT THE EVENTS
The 2003 AC Symposium – Canadian Wilderness Territories – has been planned to coincide with the AC Annual Dinner on 29 November 2003 at the Shap Wells Hotel, which is set in a very beautiful and accessible part of the Lake District. This is the first time the dinner has been held out of London (it is now held out of London every second year), and by combining it with the annual symposium and within such easy access of the mountains, is certain to be a popular event.
SYMPOSIUM: THE MOUNTAINS OF CANADA. symposium, chaired by Doug Scott, has assembled an outstanding group of climbers to cover the fantastic opportunities available to mountaineers in Canada. The full day programme will provide anyone who has an interest in Canada to hear first hand what Canada can offer. This will be an exceptional day, organised by the Alpine Club with sponsorship from the Canadian Tourism Commission, Arc’teryx and the Royal Bank of Canada. A light lunch is included in the ticket price of £20 to AC and RGS members and £25 to non- members.
DINNER: The annual dinner is open to AC members and their guests, and to non-members who are attending the symposium, at a cost of £21 per head (drinks not included: wine/beer may be purchased at the bar or at the table). The after dinner speaker will be Sir Chris Bonington. Dress is informal.
