CANCELLED AC Scottish Winter Experience Day 2021
Friday 26 February 2021

Friday 26 February 2021

Due to the Corona virus situation this meet has been cancelled

Scottish winter climbing requires, in addition to actual climbing proficiency, skills in poor visibility navigation and assessment of snow and avalanche conditions in the uniquely Scottish context. Route choice in any given set of conditions is also a core factor in having a successful day. The aim of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for members to discuss these themes in a practical context, with the aim of benefitting members who are competent climbers but who feel that a day out dedicated to these issues could be beneficial. A possible structure would be a day’s winter journey in the hills involving group exchange of ideas, plus an informal evening discussion. The plan would be to hold the event the day before the Scottish Winter Climbing weekend, staying at Corran Bunkhouse, with an additional night at £25 per person for the night of Thursday 25th February 2021. Places will be limited to a maximum of six for this part of the meet.
