A very kind man, generous with his time, and great company to be with in the mountains. So sorry that he is no longer with us

Very sorry to hear of Jim's death. Before my first expedition to Central Asia (Chinese Pamirs), in 1989, Jim gave up valuable time, and went out of his way in other ways, to give detailed advice about acclimatisation, very much to the expedition's benefit.A kind, good, scholarly man.
