Hywel LLoyd: EVEREST – The 1933 and 1953 major expeditions
Tuesday 11 July 2023, 07:30pm
Tuesday 11 July 2023

90 years ago, the team led by Hugh Ruttledge established key facts about Everest that helped facilitate the success of John Hunt’s team in 1953. Drawing on the literature and photos of the Alpine Club Library, Hywel Lloyd will illustrate the story of Everest's first ascent, explaining how failure in 1933 was turned into eventual success in 1953.

The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 11 July 2023.

For safety reasons, we are required to keep a register of all attendees. If you plan to attend, please complete the form below. (This applies to both members and non-members).

There is no official charge for entry, but we do ask non-members to make a small contribution towards the continued running of the lectures if they are able.
