The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!
Becoming a Member“There is no nobler county than that of Northumberland, as it rolls processionally northwards to the Border in great waves of coloured moorland, cresting upon the skyline into sudden and surprising crags, which crown for us the magnificent walking and admirable rock climbs.” Geoffrey Winthrop Young, Alpine Club President, 1941-43
Bowden
This year, the meet is again based around the most northerly crags covered in the Northumberland Mountaineering Club guide. The plan is to visit crags such as Bowden Doors, Back Bowden, Berryhill, and Kyloe.
If you would like to come, either for the day or for the weekend, please get in touch and I will add you to the WhatsApp group.
