James Bingham - Climbing Adventures in Afghanistan
Tuesday 26 March 2024, 07:30pm
Tuesday 26 March 2024

In 2010, James Bingham led a team to the summit of Mt Noshaq (7492m), Afghanistan’s highest peak, becoming the first British team to return to this remote mountain since the Soviet invasion in 1979.

James will be sharing his experience of this great adventure, along with other trips to Afghanistan, including a trip to climb Mir Samir (5809m) in the Panjshir Valley.

He later helped set up the Marathon of Afghanistan, the country’s first mixed-gender sports event, and established the Afghan Sports Trust, a UK registered charity that supports Afghan sports clubs and individuals. James has been on many adventures around the world, but still describes the climb of Mt Noshaq as the “greatest adventure of my life”.

The talk will be held at the Alpine Club's premises at 55 Charlotte Road, London, EC2A 3QF from 7PM on 26 March 2024.
