The Alpine Club, the world’s first mountaineering club, was founded in 1857. For over 150 years, members have been at the leading edge of worldwide mountaineering development and exploration.
With membership, experienced and aspiring alpinists benefit from a varied meets programme, regional lectures with notable guest speakers, reduced rates at many alpine huts, opportunity to apply for grants to support expeditions, significant discounts at many UK retailers, extensive networking contacts, access to the AC Library and maps - and more!

To mark 100 years since the British Everest expedition of 1924, on which George Mallory and Sandy Irvine were lost high on the mountain, the Alpine Club will be hosting a new exhibition, Everest Revisited 1924-2024, which will re-examine the first Everest expeditions.
As part of the exhibition's official opening, we will be holding a special evening event which will include the premiere of a new film about the 1920s Everest expeditions. Join us then.
The exhibition will run from 4 June to 30 July 2024, with this official opening taking place from 7PM on 11 June 2024. More details to follow soon.
