Steve Broadbent- Africa's Trad-Climbing Paradise: Exploring Morocco's Anti-Atlas Mountains

Steve Broadbent

Replace with details of speaker etc

Morocco's Anti-Atlas mountains have seen increasing interest from British and European climbers in recent years, but despite growing visitor numbers the huge quartzite crags of Jebel el Kest and Jebel Taskra continue to provide seemingly endless opportunities for new routes and adventurous trad climbing. After some thirty visits over more than a decade, Steve Broadbent has pioneered almost 900 rock routes in the region, authored no fewer than five guidebooks, and spent countless days exploring and mapping one of Africa's most incredible climbing playgrounds. In this talk he discusses what makes these mountains so special, their climbing history, and what led him to move his life, and his family, to Morocco to live with the Berber people in the the oasis town of Tafraout
