In the July newsletter and on this website, we have written about the AC’s support of the developing MountaiNow app.

The app is based on a combination of digital mapping and crowd-sourcing.  It is intended to give live Alpine conditions reports via an active user community and user-friendly interface, with the ultimate goal of increasing safety on the hill.  The countries currently covered are Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland.

The developers have been successful in their crowdfunding campaign and the app is now in test phase! We are calling on all AC members that are active in the Alps from now until mid-October to download the beta version and be a tester.  This does mean that you must give them feedback on the app during/after use, but you’ll get it for free so that’s a fair price.

Test-phase details:
- Mainly designed to (i) adjust functionalities and interface of the App and website; and (ii) assess reliability and stability
- Conducted by international experts: Guides, Alpine club tour leaders, National Park's guards
- Will end in mid-October
- The contact email address for the test-phase is: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you are interested in being a tester, please contact Alexia Massacand: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Alexia will need the email address you will use for the App download, together with an indication of the system that you use (iOS/Apple or android/Google) since this information needs to be authorized by the stores during the beta test-phase.
