Applications for the Montane Alpine Club Climbing Fund grants closed on 1st March 2017. We have pleasure in detailing the successful applicants and wish them every success for their forthcoming expeditions.

The named climbers are all the AC members on these expeditions; some of them have not themselves received grants because they either got one last year, or they haven’t yet been in the club for two years.

Bruce Normand:  the unclimbed east face of Gasherbrum IV in Pakistan

George Cave, Clay Conlon, Ross Davidson, Will Attridge, and Steve Carratt: unclimbed 5700-6000m peaks around the Gunj-e Dur glacier in the Shimshal region of Pakistan

Peter Thompson and Aiden Laffey: unclimbed 6630m peak in the Hunza region of Pakistan

Alex Mathie and Tim Oliver: first free ascent and second overall ascent of The Knowledge on the north buttress of Mt. Hunter, Alaska.

Tom Livingstone and Uisdean Hawthorn: new route on Father and Sons Wall or south face of Denali, Alaska.

Emily Ward and Mark Bielby: unclimbed 6034m peak Ardang in the Humla region of Nepal.

Ben Silvestre, Pete Graham, and Uisdean Hawthorn: the unclimbed west face of 6230m peak Arjuna in Kishtwar region of India

Tim Oates and Rebecca Coles: unclimbed 5800m peak in the Morkhoon valley of Pakistan

Mike Twid Turner: new routes on the east face of the Bear’s Tooth and the west face of Triple Middle Peak, Alaska

Mick Fowler and Vic Saunders: unclimbed 6362m Chombu in Sikkim , India.

Derek Buckle, Drew Cook, Jamie Goodhart, Rafal Malczyk, and Howard Pollitt: unclimbed 6000m peaks around the Rassa glacier in Ladakh, India.
