Thanks to all Club members who participated in two events for Nepal during the summer.

As members will know, the AC supported the BMC’s eBay auction for Nepal in July.  We are delighted to report that it raised over £24,000, £22,999 for Community Action Nepal and £1,287 for the Paldorje Education Fund.  Items donated by AC members raised £15,034, a significant sum.  Many thanks to those members who donated items and to those who bid for them.  Thanks also to the BMC for their initiative and for organising the event on behalf of the UK mountaineering community.  The Club was very pleased to be involved.

Secondly, the earlier event, a "Night for Nepal" in Bristol on 22nd June raised £7,800 for disaster relief.  The event was organised by Dick Willis of Wilderness Lectures in collaboration with AC South-West region members, local indoor climbing walls, outdoor retailers and climbers. Again, congratulations and thanks to all those involved.

The pictures below show examples of conditions after the earthquake: The deaf children and staff at CAN's Bahrabise School, in a shelter to sleep, eat and study, and still smiling, a sea of shelters in a field in Kathmandu, a village home above Ghunsa Solukhumbu, and a shelter in Lapcha village, built and cohabited by two neigbouring families accommodating 4 adults and 5 children.
